… a milk bottle?
You read right, kids: Broguiere’s Farm Fresh Dairy in Montebello, California added a commemorative glass milk bottle to its repertoire this past month when the Kings took home the franchise’s first-ever Stanley Cup championship. It’s not the first time a team from Staples Center has been so honoured – with milk bottles, not a Cup parade – but what’s that we see? The hockey-themed bottle has proven to be more than twice as popular as any of the three past odes to championship Lakers squads.
According to an article on NHL.com following the Stanley Cup on its travels with the Kings this summer, the wee throwback milk company has printed a second 8,000-strong run of the Kings commemorative bottles. (The photo you see here, taken by Don Broguiere, was gratuitously stolen from that very same NHL.com website. We’re working on getting a bottle for our bad selves, at which time we’ll take our own pics. But hey, we’re a blog with an even smaller budget than Pass It To Bulis, okay?)
We’ve all seen Wheaties boxes with celebs. And odd stuff has certainly come about before – Jaromir Jagr Peanut Butter, anyone? Flutie Flakes? (Yeah, I know they’re not hockey related — fine, how about Dupuis Dijon or Kick-Save Krunch?) But this is the first time I remember seeing hockey-themed MILK.
